Matthew Berry, Inventor of Fantasy Football, is Leaving ESPN

Big news today as Matthew Berry, unequivocally the King of Fantasy Football, announced he is leaving ESPN after 15 years.

This comes as a shock to many as he has built the ESPN Fantasy Football brand into a force to be reckoned with. Berry is arguably the most recognizable human in the fantasy sports realm and he carries with him a massive following, so it makes enough sense for him to break away. Needless to say, this leaves quite the void at ESPN.

For future content, you may be able to access that at this link. I'm just discovering this after a quick online search since he didn't mention anything in his announcement. This all appears to be a brand new venture as Matthew Berry has seemingly branched off and is starting his own website. It looks like an all-encompassing site with a free newsletter covering everything from redraft and dynasty leagues, betting, and daily fantasy sports. He's including rankings, projections, trade raters, and league sync capabilities. This would be a direct competitor against other prominent sites such as FantasyPros but boasting the Matthew Berry brand. There are already some posts on the front page, and there's a "COMING SOON" graphic under the "Shop". After becoming a household name for fantasy footballers everywhere, good for Berry for monetizing and building something new and exciting.
