Tempers flared after the strikeout call that ended the Miss. Valley St.-New Orleans game.

Mississippi Valley State outfielder Davon Mims learned a valuable lesson over the weekend. Do NOT show up this umpire or else he'll ignore what he's being paid to do and ring you up on a waste pitch. This has gotta be the pettiest strike three call ever. I've seen revenge calls before but I can't remember seeing one as blatant and personal as this.
After a borderline pitch down in the zone was called strike two, the Miss. Valley St. batter bounced around and pointed to where the pitch was. In my opinion not a great look to argue the call, and the ump should've given him a warning prior to the next pitch; that would've been the proper way to handle things. Instead, the ump chose violence.
There were two outs in the ninth, it was a four run deficit for MVS, the game looked mostly over. With that said, Mims is a prolific base stealer swiping 21 bags already this season. You never know what can happen if he was to reach base safely and attempt a steal to get into scoring position. From there, a base knock theoretically brings him home. That's how a rally gets started, folks. The ump said "not on my watch" and it's clear that the third strike was being called no matter what.
Baseball season is officially here and the ump show is in full force. It's always a fun wrinkle to see which umpires want to make their tiny sliver of authority known the most. This guy should never be allowed to call another game as a homeplate umpire. If his ego is this fragile, he's not built to be behind the plate. The Southland Conference decided it was enough to suspend the guy indefinitely, so I hope it was worth it to own a student-athlete.
Solid work by ESPN's social team here by posing the question "do you agree with the call?" Uhh no, you dipshits, no one agrees with the call.
