LA Tech Scored More Runs Than Ole Miss But NCAA College Baseball Rules Are Dumb So They Lost

The NCAA might wanna crack their rule book and make an amendment to this one because it seems unfair to go back in time and retroactively take runs away.

In case you missed it, LA Tech scored two runs in the top of the 7th inning last night to take a 5-4 lead over Ole Miss only to have the game called due to weather. There was lightning in the area so after two hours of deliberation, they called the game. In this instance, the final score would be whatever it was at the end of the last full inning, which was the 6th frame. Ole Miss was up 4-3 at that time, so they were gifted a "win" in this game. In other words, according to NCAA rules, the two runs LA Tech scored were null and void because they were allowed to start the 7th inning but didn't finish it. Rolling them out there only for them to take the lead then say those runs don't count is as crummy as it gets. I know rules is rules, but make that one make sense!

What an asinine way to lose for LA Tech. Luck with the weather doesn't get much worse than that and the rule screwed them out of a potential win. The result clearly didn't sit very well with their head coach, Lane Burroughs.
