Patrick Mahomes Doesn’t Care About The Money

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t seem bothered that other quarterbacks make more money than him, he just wants to ball with his bros. He’s more worried about getting rings and cementing his legacy - a true football guy, through and through. 

Comparatively speaking from a football business standpoint, Mahomes not making top-5 money is insane and the Chiefs are getting the bargain of a lifetime on the best in the league. The Chiefs front office has to absolutely love seeing their franchise QB say things like this because all he cares about is winning. 

It’s refreshing to hear this level of perspective, especially from Patrick Mahomes. He could very easily be a diva about it and talk about how much money Deshaun Watson is making. Instead, he’s aware that he’s already made enough money to comfortably retire, a concept that’s lost on too many other pro athletes. Contract negotiations usually turn into pissing matches and people end up looking spoiled and out of touch. I get why players negotiate and make sure they’re fairly compensated, but squabbling over details when you’re already making anywhere from $40-50 million/year is peak pettiness. 

Once Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert get paid, that’ll leave Mahomes as the 9th highest paid QB in the league. Now, before we start a GoFundMe let’s keep in mind that he still makes $45.5 million a year, not a small number of dollars. That’s more than enough to live however the hell he wants for the rest of his life, ensure his kids are taken care of, fund his wife’s shopaholicism, and cover his brother’s attorney fees/bail money.

It's the playoffs, baby.    1. Justin Jefferson's fantasy corpse was reanimated this week for some excellent fantasy production .  Oops! He got injured again and there were 3 total points scored all game. If ever there was a game that embodied a fart noise, it was this one. It wasn't exactly the explosive return we'd all hoped for as Jefferson may or may not have had internal bleeding after a hit in the first half. It was a mighty gut-punch for fantasy owners that thought they were getting a healthy Jefferson back after 8 weeks on the shelf just for him to leave early again and go to the hospital.
