However ..
He was ejected and suspended for the next game because the bat flip was ruled excessive.

Another VERY inappropriate home run celebration in college baseball thwarted by the umpires. Seems like he was definitely trying to show up the pitcher with that one so it was really quite brave of the umpire to make that decision. Can't have these teenagers celebrating go-ahead home runs with their teammates. You hit a home run? Good for you, now place that bat on the ground and sprint around those bases with your head down. No high fives or showboating. Have some respect for the game!
This time it was a University of Arkansas Monticello student-athlete by the name of Chase Cripps that was out of line with the excessive bat flip. For his act of showmanship he was granted an ejection and one-game suspension. Justice served, once again. Heaven knows what might've happened if those courageous umpires weren't there to keep the peace.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Ump Show! MLB Opening Day is this week as well, so there'll be more where that came from.
PS - I'm not sure how strong the presence is in Monticello, Arkansas, but with a name like "Cripps" perhaps the umpires noticed some gang signage or shady behavior that wasn't caught on camera that contributed to the punishment. I don't believe this to be the case, but this would be about the only justification for throwing him out.
PPS - This kid has everything.
No batting gloves, stirrup socks. I don't know anyone who doesn't LOVE the stirrups look. I wish more baseball players would rock this. Just an all-time classic visual, especially when you're smacking homers.
PPPS - On the topic of no batting gloves, I know a guy that played college baseball (no big deal) and he claimed that Moises Alou used to piss on his hands to toughen them up, that way he didn't need batting gloves. Interesting stuff.
