Kendrick Perkins Said MVP Voters Are Racist And ESPN Had To Correct Him Today On First Take
"The NBA publicly announces the voters each year and after review, it's clear the panel is much more diverse than what was portrayed by Kendrick Perkins and we wanted to make sure that we corrected that today."

Kendrick Perkins thinks that because Nikola Jokic could three-peat as NBA Most Value Player that the voters are racist. He also stated that 80% of the MVP voters are white. Unfortunately for Perkins, the NBA makes the MVP voters public and it turns out that's not the case at all.
Now you might be thinking, "that's an awfully bold statement to make on national television unless there's some pretty clear evidence to back it up". You would be correct, and there's a very simple way to navigate this if you're Kendrick Perkins. First, don't say that without doing a single shred of research or finding supporting data to confirm your theory. Second, how does this hold any water when white players have won MVP just 13 times since its inception in 1955-56? I suppose logic doesn't apply when there's a spicy opinion to be had, and Kendrick Perkins sprayed and prayed on this one. Subsequently, Molly Qerim had to come out today and issue a statement refuting his claims and debunking his baseless theory.
Kendrick gets paid by ESPN to say silly shit on TV and "embrace debate" on 'First Take'. That's fine, he's not the only one - Skip Bayless has made a career out of saying dumb shit and arguing about it until he's blue in the face. I'm betting he didn't foresee his co-anchor JJ Redick calling him out on this on the air. The only response he could muster was "I stated the facts!"
They weren't facts, so ESPN was forced to step in and do some damage control. No worse for the wear, Perk took to Twitter to courageously defend his take:
A Speaker of TRUTH has no friends!!!
